SHIPPING DIVISION


          The Shipping Division has been engaged in the business of Agency and Crewing ever since the Company was established in 1857 and has played an important role in the growth of the Company. The division offers comprehensive shipping services and acts as shipping agents for foreign principals (ship owners) in India. The division's expertise and experience has been of long standing not only in the Liner Trade(The Company represents Blue Star Line for their liner trade between India and Australia /New Zealand.) but also in handling Tramp and Charter vessels, Tankers, Heavy Lift Carriers, Salvage and Towage, Off-shore Services and Recruitment of Officers and Ratings. The company is represented on all statutory bodies associated with crewing out of India. In its checkered history, the Company was not only steamship agents but also steamship owners and managers and till 1940, the Bombay Steam Navigation Co., which served the coast of western India for cargo and passengers was run by Killick Nixon. The Company has diversified and expanded its activities in keeping with the changing pattern of development globally.

Market Standing :

         Killick Nixon is a name recognised by the Shipping industry as Agents of the highest market standing. With decades of dedicated services, Killicks enjoys high goodwill with the Trade and the Port and Customs authorities. Well established market reputation and high levels of customer confidence are one of the most valuable intangible assets of this division. Killick Nixon and reliability are synonymous for shippers and this is one of the main factors for good customer support at the highest revenues for the principals represented.

Manpower :   

          Our shipping division has a strength of over 510 personnel in the Mumbai office. The team consists of highly dedicated, experienced and motivated personnel who share a common ideology of teamwork. The employees are shipping professionals who are experts in their respective functional areas and contribute to building a fine team. The Company values the wealth of its employees and is constantly engaged in upgrading the quality of its manpower resources through training and development programs.

Office :

         We have our office in the heart of Mumbai city close to the port. The office location is ideal for shipping business due to its proximity to the trade as most of the forwarders and brokers are located in the same area.
There is also a fully manned office at JNP (Jawaharlal Nehru Port) at Nhava Sheva. We are fully geared to handle the operations and husbanding of vessels of principals in the most efficient manner.

All India Network :

        Although the shipping division head office is in Mumbai, the division has offices and marketing setups at the ports of Nhava Sheva, Calcutta and Madras and at the Inland Container Depot in Delhi and Bangalore and also at Ludhiana and Ahmedabad. Through its own offices and sub-agents, the division can meet the requirement of shipowners at any port in India. Today, India is emerging as one of the fastest growing economies of the world and the division is constantly expanding its areas of operations to cater to the growth of cargo flows to and from all inland locations.

Computer Systems :

       Our division is completely computerised and connected with our principals' offices through e-mail. Specific software has been installed to cater to all principals' requirements and management information systems. Computer training programs are conducted for the staff to make them computer proficient.
